Perhaps we humans will need to rely on AI-based “canonizers” who/which can perform the functions provided by erstwhile human canonizers, who worked across centuries to identify, interpret and immortalize foundational works. These AI agents would appear to us to perform at lightning speed as they discover, consume and discuss new works amongst themselves, and surface to us what our attention algorithms suggest, doing so all at what to us would look like canonization at the speed of publication.
